John Schultz

John Schultz
Vice President

Since 1995, John Schultz has managed large-scale electronic marketing and Web technology engagements for a range of commercial and non profit clients. He cut his Internet "teeth" working with several DC-area firms on their first Web initiatives, providing the strategic and organizational guidance to integrate new technology.

While at digitalNATION, John consulted to Saab Cars USA and Merck AG on sales, marketing, and organizational communications using Web technology. He has helped organizations like Financial Executives International and the American Association for the Advancement of Science grow membership and revenue through effective online campaigns.

John has unique expertise working with non profits and trade associations such as the American Gas Association, the American Trucking Associations, and the National Automobile Dealers Association to design and deploy Web initiatives for increasing non-dues revenue, improving customer relationships and achieving organizational goals.

Prior to joining NetStrategies, John managed a team of over 30 designers, software engineers, and Web consultants at digitalNATION.

John is a social media expert who has been blogging since 2001, long before it was cool.

John is a Certified eMarketer (CeM) andĀ holds a B.A. degree from The American University and a M.B.A. degree from University of Maryland University College. He has been a judge for the Web Marketing Association's WebAwards competition since 2000.

Are you a workaholic or do you enjoy some downtime?
I am determined to work hard enough and smart enough so I can fully enjoy my downtime with my family. I normally make it home in time to enjoy some time with my toddler.

Read any good books lately?
I'm a podcast addict and have everything from opera to American History 101 and Coffee Break Spanish on my iPod. So, I don't really read many books conventionally anymore.

What do you do for fun?
I trained as an opera singer and now direct the choir at my local Catholic parish. That's how I met my wife. She and I both love to cook but have trouble sharing the kitchen. (If we had a cooking show it would be called "Who's In Control?")

Do you have a favorite charity and why?
We support many local DC-area charities. Because our child came to us first as a foster baby, I have a soft spot for foster care and adoption agencies. Every kid deserves to be loved.
