As a senior executive of two profitable Internet companies, Rodney was responsible for over $100,000,000 in Web marketing and online channel sales. As the "Revenue Master" for digitalNation, he helped grow the business from the first 20 clients to over 4,000. While at RackSpace, he started the Advanced Hosting division-complex hosting configurations that were needed to make the Internet's first social networking sites function.

As a digital marketer, Rodney worked with numerous DC firms to generate online leads and grow product sales. He founded NetStrategies in 2002. Rodney is an alumnus of Miami University.

Why did you decide to start NetStrategies?
When we started the business we wanted to work with clients on their digital marketing campaigns and search engine optimization. We learned rather quickly that increasing online traffic didn't necessarily help clients reach more customers and build better relationships with their existing customers. Clients needed much more sophisticated assistance to really focus on producing results. Our greatest asset has proven to be our digital marketing experience within the technology and association arenas.

How has your vision changed since you founded NetStrategies?
We have always believed that performance metrics are valuable and that you have to plan for continual, incremental improvement to stay ahead in business, but we now tend to stay more closely involved with our clients' businesses over time. Today, we rarely do short-term projects. Now, it's about helping clients visualize the potential for their online businesses and mapping a strategy to help them reach that potential.

What is it about working with clients that gives you the greatest satisfaction?
I get excited when I see clients succeed and it's even better when they credit their success to NetStrategies!

What was your first business venture and what did you learn?
In college, I started a business that basically involved delivering kegs of beer to frat houses. It really took off and even the campus administrators supported us because we conducted business in a responsible way. Later we added a lot of other services -- ice, party stuff, etc. -- and I learned that the more we listened to our customers and paid attention to the details, the more successful we were. Funny how those early lessons stick with you.
